ART + WINE + CHEESE: OTARI SHIUK’S (Republic of Georgia 1921-1995) former daughter-in-law EUGENIA CHESTER will discuss Otari’s life and career as an artist
Georgian artist, Otari Shiukashvili (later shortened to Shiuk) was a preeminent impressionistic artist from the Republic of Georgia. He emigrated to the U.S. and spent much of his adult life in NYC and Washington, D.C. His original paintings sold in galleries, at auctions and to collectors for $50,000+ in the 80’s and 90’s. Nepenthe Gallery proudly represents Otari’s works thanks to a partnership with Bob Murray from the von Bruhler Ltd. Gallery and thanks to Otari’s former daughter-in-law Eugenia Chester who manages the remaining works in Otari’s collection. We are delighted to have Eugenia here this evening to share stories about the talented artist, Otari, and lead a discussion about his career and life. A true art history event! Many original paintings by Otari will be on display and for sale.
