ART + WINE + CHEESE: Nepenthe Gallery honors BOB MURRAY (1935 – 2026)

Join us on this special evening to remember and pay tribute to longtime artist, gallerist, philanthropist and friend to many—Robert “BOB” Francis Murray who passed away in January of this year. Bob founded The von Brahler Ltd. Gallery that he owned and operated in Georgetown and later in Alexandria for more than 40 years. He graduated from Gonzaga College High School in 1953 and received both a BA and a Masters Degree from Georgetown University. He was a key leader in the planning and renovation of St. Aloysius Church at Gonzaga and was honored there in 2025 for his contributions.
At Nepenthe he was a mentor and a devoted guest at our weekly “ART + WINE + CHEESE” events. He introduced us to many talented artists, showcased his extensive private collection of Asian soapstone sculptures, founded our annual “Art in the Alley” event and elevated what we endeavor to bring to this community in every way.
We will have dozens of Bob’s paintings on display and available for purchase with all proceeds going to Gonzaga College High School. We will carry Bob’s memory with us each day as we continue celebrating and sharing FINE ART here in Alexandria and beyond.
