ART + WINE + CHEESE: Nepenthe Gallery is delighted to welcome esteemed artist ALEXEI BUTIRSKIY who will help us kick off the “Alexandria Experience” exhibit
We are honored to introduce our Nepenthe community to the gorgeous paintings by this talented artist—-Alexei Butirskiy. Alexei and his wife Zina will be at Nepenthe with a collection of Alexei’s original paintings and a few limited edition giclée prints. Alexei has a wonderful fondness for Alexandria and agreed to paint an original painting (he actually painted two!) that we could include in our collection for the “Alexandria Experience.” This is an exhibit that includes a collection of original art and vintage fine prints (all for sale), and memorabilia, photos and artifacts from businesses and families that have had roots in this historical town for many generations, decades and in some cases centuries.
Alexei Butirskiy is a classically trained artist, who received his MFA in 1998 from the Ilya Glazunov Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, one of the most prestigious art universities in the world.
Alexei’s favorite subjects are urban landscapes depicting daily city life. The strength and intensity of the play of light and shadow are the expressive means by which Butirskiy’s works glow from within and demonstrate a unique virtuoso use of chiaroscuro.
