Romare Bearden’s The Piano Lesson at Nepenthe Gallery

Patty Owens, Nepenthe Gallery Curator and a former docent for 40+ years at the National Gallery of Art, will lead a discussion on the spectacular, original artwork The Piano Lesson by ROMARE BEARDEN (African-American 1911-1988). This masterpiece is on view at Nepenthe Gallery. This is the artwork that inspired playwright AUGUST WILSON to write his Pulitzer Prize-winnning play “The Piano Lesson.” Discussion will last about 20 minutes.
