ART + WINE + CHEESE: Plein Air Painting Showcase —new artists and artworks abound at Nepenthe this evening

We have partnered with The Alexandria Plein Air Society to present this special exhibit.  The exhibit, which will showcase about 40 artworks, includes mostly artists whose works have not been displayed at Nepenthe in the past—-we are excited to see new art that is painted in the “plein air” style that we deeply appreciate and admire.  

The Alexandria Plein Air Society

The Alexandria Plein Air Society formed when a group of individuals, united by a shared passion for painting, sought to continue creating art and connecting with fellow artists during the COVID pandemic. A meet-up time and location posted on social media in early 2020 blossomed into weekly plein air sessions with newfound friends that continue on today.

In this group exhibition, we invite viewers to reconnect with the environments that surround us daily. The paintings are reminders of how landscapes shape and inspire our lives. By painting outside (en plein air), we explore the enduring beauty of the landscape. To capture fleeting moments of light, color, and atmosphere is our attempt to preserve moments of stillness, beauty, and connection to place.
