Using exquisite mussel shells sourced from many areas of the world, Jenny Price Corder creates breathtaking textural art from her home studio in Maryland. The unique physical characteristics of individual mussel shells allow her to create pieces that are incredibly expressive. Mussel shells share a characteristic crescentic shape that supports the creation of works embodying movement. These naturally meditative art works evoke memories of wind and water. She enjoys taking otherwise ordinary objects and making them into something that is a feast for the eyes, and texturally complex. Jenny’s art embodies the notion that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Jenny, a dedicated yoga practitioner, enjoys practicing near one of her works. She notices how the shells stretch and reach, reminding her of the strength and beauty of nature. A pediatrician with extensive local and international work experience, Jenny is happy to be living once again in Maryland, her home. She is a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. Jenny is a member of Maryland Federation of Art and has participated in several juried art exhibits earning one Honorable Mention, and is a member of the inaugural Maryland State Arts Council Public Artist Roster. She enjoys the slow and meditative experience of creating her art.
