Mary Beth is an oil painter who spends half the year in Italy managing her small vineyard estate, and the other half in Old Town Alexandria where she has a studio on the third floor of the Torpedo Factory. Mary Beth paints with simple, meaningful strokes and uses texture and the weight of the paint to create movement and expression. She enjoys exploring and interpreting the juxtaposition among objects in a traditionally arranged still life; however, she is also drawn to the architectural structure that comes from single objects–such as a vase of flowers or strawberries in a green cardboard box.
