Alexandria, VA
Lori Welch Brown is a mixed-media abstract artist and writer whose style encompasses her love of bold color, expressive mark making, and often, stream of conscious meditations on life. Lori spent much of her childhood in Virginia hunt country and her love of the outdoors and that time in her life is often reflected in her work as is her passion for being in and around the water.
As a former professional organizer, Lori believes that her art making process has striking similarities—making sense of her surroundings by bringing order to chaos, problem solving, and working towards an end result that brings calmness, serenity, and a sense of beauty and joy. She believes strongly in the power of connections, a shared sense of human experience, and the journey inward all of which are central to her artistic endeavors.
Lori studied at The Art League of Alexandria, and has been a student of several nationally known artists. She has been featured in Canvas Rebel magazine and has been a columnist for the Old Town Crier for over 20 years.
A native Alexandrian, Lori splits her time between there and Emerald Isle, NC along with her husband and their three fur babies.
